Psalm 118:24 “THIS is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

What a GREAT weekend--it was definitely a good reminder of why I love living in Jarabacoa. We had Friday and Monday off of school, and I did so many things that I have not had the time to do in so long! (Or I just did not make time to do!) Even here, I find myself so busy and not taking the time to fully rest and enjoy the beautiful place I live in!

Friday: We were supposed to go hiking, but couldn’t go because the mountains were covered in storms, but it ended up being a great day anyways! Julie-Anne and I went on an awesome motorcycle trip, exploring new places in Jarabacoa, AND I learned to drive her motorcycle!

Saturday: We went on a new adventure run to this “playita” (little beach) along the river, and explored random paths. We ended up following this road (aka an overgrown path) past the playita, found some beautiful places along the mountain that we will have to try again next week--and I am going to take my camera! We went to the pool for a little while in the afternoon, and then Natalie, Melisa, Ryan and I went to play tennis! But, before you think tennis, take a look at the tennis court! Apparently Dominicans don’t play much tennis, we more or less tried to hit the ball back and forth, but it was pretty hard because it was bouncing randomly off of rocks and holes! It was still really fun though!

Sunday: Went to church in the morning, after church Julie-Anne and I tried to make lunch (I have decided that I REALLY need to learn how to cook, because even cooking veggies was quite the task! Haha) then just relaxed and read on the porch all afternoon!

Monday:We hiked out to the Jimenoa waterfalls! Had a wonderful hike, and spent time laying in the sun and reading!

Oh. My. Gosh. Today, two of my girls SUPERGLUED another girl's pants to her seat! SERIOUSLY? Does that really happen? I can't believe it.

On the positive side, the rest of my class has been behaving perfectly! And now that they all have seen me really mad..... ha ha!

Praise the Lord for a long weekend! No school Friday or Monday! I think I am going to do a lot of hiking and enjoying this beautiful, sunny, 85 degree weather! Still missing the snow though:)

Wyld Life went really well Tuesday, we had a "Minute-To-Win-It" themed club to get things started again, and I think all of the kids had a really good time!

Wow--I can’t believe it has been a month since I last posted on here! I don’t even know where to begin…

Christmas break was SO wonderful! It was so good to be back in the SNOW with family and friends, enjoy skiing, American food, and just relaxing on an actual couch! I definitely came back refreshed.

I got back the 8th, and I feel like I have been running around ever since! The weekend I got back, I hiked to the Salto Baiguate waterfall (such a beautiful hike!), went on an awesome motorcycle ride with Julie-Anne exploring our running paths, visited with friends, and got ready for school! Last week at school was a blur, but things got off to a good start!

This past weekend, we had our first workday for the Wyld Life camp scholarships. We went around town and by the river picking up trash, and oh my goodness, you would not believe how gross it was! I felt so bad for the kids, because even I was like “oh my gosh, no way am I touching that!” but they were troopers and did a good job! It was really cool to see a lot of the kids who really don’t ever have to do any kind of work actually get out and do something good for their community! We got a lot of questions while we were working--people were like “what are you crazy people doing!” so that was a good way to talk to people about why we wanted to serve the community. We are doing a free car wash in 2 weeks, so that should be a lot more fun!

Wyld Life tonight--will put up pictures and write more later!!
